CHOCOLATE PACKAGING + BRANDING
Packaging Design — Fall 2024

I created a concept for a chocolate company that makes flavors based on fruits recognizable to diasporic people. I established the company’s brand values and voice, then designed three variations of packaging for its products.

Meristem Chocolates aims to reconnect diasporic people with their heritage and to reach out to others who may want to try new flavors and learn about other cultures through their food. Meristem Chocolates uses cultural fruit flavors from countries all over the world and specializes in flavors that even people who feel disconnected from their culture can recognize.

brand mission

process

For the company, I came up with the name “Meristem,” which means plant tissue responsible for the secondary growth of new cells, and I thought that symbolized the concept behind the brand.

For the packaging itself, I looked for a chocolate bar whose packaging form I liked and deconstructed it to model my measurements after it, then created my own dieline.

font + color system

I wanted the main brand colors to be minimalistic so there could be more of a focus on the flavors, so brown and off-white were the way to go.

The rest of the color palette is based off the flavor of each chocolate bar—green for soursop, purple for mangosteen, and yellow for yuzu.
