FAMOUS COUPLES PENGUIN BOOK COVER
Graphic Design II — Spring 2024
Based on the Penguin Classics Famous Couples series, I chose the fictional couple Jesper Fahey and Wylan Van Eck from the Six of Crows book series and Shadow and Bone TV show to create a book cover in the same style and palette.
process
I developed an idea that visually represented the couple and the dichotomy within them, in which the gun represents Jesper as a sharpshooter and gambler, and the bomb represents Wylan since he does demolitions and loves music. The jurda flower represents Jesper’s farming childhood and is important in Wylan’s storyline. I also used their names written in one of the fantasy languages from the show as a bonus.
font + color system
The color palette is the same one used in the Penguin Books Publishing Group’s style—just black, white, and Penguin orange.
